Oleh's great-grandfather was a brother of Lonhyn Tsehelsky, a politician in the West Ukrainian People's Republic.〔(Ukrainian nationalist leader thriving in hard times ), Business Ukraine (January 20, 2011)〕 Tyahnybok states he remembers from when he was younger searches conducted by the agents of the KGB in his family's apartment. Tyahnybok graduated from the institute in 1993 as a qualified surgeon (as he sometimes mentions, majoring in urology).
